About me

Arun Manivannan. That’s me.

I  write code – the code with which i am going to dominate the world; one step at a time.  People could mock at me all they want but yes, I love one of the slowest languages around – Java.   I am fluent with Python and Flex, thanks to the learn-one-language-a-year resolution.  If you are doubtful of my Python skills, try sending a mail to FETCH2ME AT GMAIL DOT COM with an URL as its subject.   My friend suggested Ruby for this year.

Do I read? Yes. A lot.  I am working hard on fulfilling the 20-books-for-2010 resolution too.  I am currently taking these guys down one by one.  I will try to put in a page on the books that I found helpful.  Don’t know why but PHP was never my interest.

I am trying very hard to equip myself to contribute to open source.  To me, contributing to open source means a lot – it is destiny.  And i humbly need to accept that contributing to open source is a different kind of animal than writing code in office.  But all things are difficult before they are easy.

I always have an uncontrollable urge to know …um… EVERYTHING.  I try to learn as much as possible in swimming, martial arts, photography, physics, algebra, statistics, photoshop, flash, AI and hell yes.. i even try to learn Mandarin.  I want to know EVERYTHING. Sooner or later, I will.

I love Macs (I own a beefed up MBP).  They are … in a way.. sexy but Linux turns me on big time.   This year, i am going to give LFS a try.

To share, I think, is everyone’s social responsibility. And so is blogging.  But World Domination is imminent.

Professional, wud be too little.Extra-ordinary looks just ordinary………I meant the language and the content.
Yes,to share is not just a responsibility,it’s an obligation too. You seem to have a lot to share,so why not unfurl!
And before u bash Vista again, let me know what doesn’t appeal in it. I am an avid XP user with practically no experience on Vista. And so are many about Vista and about Windows 7…………

    Hi Arun,

Glad to see your site. It seems we are on the same boat. Just some few days back I came across subrecord and wanted to contribute for the same. Hence I mailed the admin and I got an immediate response with all the links possible to start over with. I am too a total Anti-Microsoft person for one single/simple reason. The OS doesn’t give me what it actually claims to give. I am ardent follower of Steve Jobs and I too wish to own a Mac very soon. Currently I’ve got a Acer laptop which has got dual boot in it. (Windows & Ubuntu). But soon I am sure I would get away with the former. Java programming is my passion. Looking forward to meet you soon in the subrecord community.

    Keep up the great work!

Your artical make me to think in different angles … and boosting me to know the things eagerly.
I don’t know what made you to hate Micro(soft) harder. is it because of more love with some one. Your “snapman” release makes you to be opensource writer. keep the good things… Best wish to become emerging Opensource author !!!
